Meet Karyn Giddins
Karyn grew up in a tiny sugar farming town called Babinda, which is located in Far North Queensland, Australia. Babinda is known for being the wettest town in Australia and some of Karyn's fondest memories were of tubing down the creeks when in flood, hunting for yabbies in the creeks and the seasonal cane fires. She remembers a childhood where you only came inside to eat dinner. This has inspired her love of all Flora and Fauna and the outdoors, which is featured in a lot of her art.
Upon completing year 12, Karyn studied Visual Arts at the University of Southern Queensland and went on to become a Secondary teacher for Education Queensland. She has only just recently cut back her working hours to focus more on her own art. Her motto is “It’s never too late”, and is having her first exhibition at Artview Gallery in Cairns, opening on 15th November, 2024.
My Website is a continual work in progress, so please visit again to see more art and products.
My art is inspired by my natural surroundings and the hidden details in the landscape, flora or fauna that often is overlooked.
I do not like to limit myself to one medium and will often use different media for works depending on the subject and mood. Often pieces can also be mixed media.
“There is no rule that says you must follow the traditional path of creating with one media and style.” “It’s much more fun to go with whatever inspires you in that moment”.
